Rules for Posting Photos in the Forum

Don't steal. For all photos that you post on The Photographic Touch's forum, you must have the legal rights. Do NOT post any photos copyrighted to other entities - for example, photos scanned from art books or magazines. If your photos have been posted here without your consent, contact us so we can resolve the issue.

Keep it clean. All photos must be suitable for children (PG) and that goes for comments too. NO PHOTOS MAY BE POSTED THAT ARE NUDE OR EROTIC. Photos that are deemed obscene, offensive or in bad taste will be removed by us and posters will be warned. Repetitive violations may result in suspensions or bans from the forum. People that intentionally violate the rules will be banned.


Guidelines for the Photo Critique Forum

The intent of the critique forum is to improve your photography not to be put down so be constructive. When critiquing, be candid and critical but constructive and friendly. Point out the issues that you see AND give suggestions on how the photo can be improved.

Post your best work.

Give a description of your work and give as much technical detail as possible. Describe the photo and say what you were trying to achieve with the photo. The main details that should be included (if possible) are the focal length, aperture, shutter speed, iso, camera taken with and if a mono/tripod was used. Other information that can be useful are location, date, time of day, weather, lighting conditions, lens or any other equipment that was used.

Try to limit the image size as much as possible, but not cause significant loss to the quality of your work. We would recommend reducing the largest side of your image to 1000px or less. Using programs like Photoshop's "save for web & devices" features, this can quickly and easily be done. (Example of feature)

Try to limit the number of photos to be critiqued each week to 5. This will allow others to give you feedback and limit posts from vanishing off of the current list.
